Insurance and Payment Options
For all clients other than Aetna we are fee for service providers. Payment is taken at the time of the visit. We accept credit cards, checks and cash. HSA or FSA cards are accepted. We can also submit your bill to your insurance for a small fee ($5.00) which goes directly to our billing service.
Whether you would like a home visit or you would like to come to our office we can accommodate you. There is an additional charge for traveling outside a 15 mile radius from our home base of $25.00.
HOME AND OFFICE CONSULTATIONS
Home Prenatal Breastfeeding Consultation - $200
Office Prenatal Breastfeeding Consultation - $140
My prenatal consultations are ideal for those who want a healthy start to breastfeeding, including clients who have had breastfeeding challenges with a previous child. Often discussing your experience and then outlining the important steps to getting off to a great start is just what you need. Discussing what is important to focus on in the first few days and what to watch for in the first week and beyond can provide you with the confidence and concrete information to be successful. We develop a detailed care plan with very concrete tips for you at the end of the visit. As well, establishing a relationship with me as your IBCLC prior to your little ones birth can allow you to feel prepared and ready to conquer this the second time around.
Home Visit Lactation Consultation - $270
Office Visit Lactation Consultation - $220
(Office visits take place at Compass Wellness Center - 14 Vine Street, New Britain, CT)
Follow-Up Home Visits - $140
Follow-Up Office Visits - $110
We will discuss progress and how things are going. We will observe a feeding and reassess and formulate any change to plan that is needed.
Weight Check - $30
It is often very helpful to have weight checks to assess progress and boost confidence. This is a short visit where we weigh baby and discuss briefly our findings and discuss any change to plan based on baby’s weight.
We will never turn a family away who desires lactation care - payment plans available if necessary. If you are a military family please ask for our military discount.
INSURANCE COVERAGE
AETNA:
We are in network with Aetna. Aetna typically covers up to 6 visits at no charge. Prior to our appointment we ask that you call Aetna to confirm the coverage you are have for lactation care. As long as coverage is confirmed there is no exchange of fees for the services for Aetna clients.
CONNECTICARE:
Connecticare also covers at least 1 visit. However, you are still responsible for the fees at the time of the visit but we are happy to submit your bill to them for you for a small fee.
ALL OTHER INSURANCES:
This includes BC/BS, United Heath Care, Cigna, and others. While the Affordable Health Care Act states that coverage for lactation care in or out of network is the law unfortunately it is not an easy task for families. Calling to confirm and check with your insurance carrier about their coverage is recommended. If your insurance company tells you that we are not in network (which is because they don’t allow us to join their network) please request a “gap exception” or an expedited “in for out” request. As well this link will take you to the National Women’s Law Center and their toolkit which has very helpful information in speaking with your insurance company.
